Wine & Spirits - Joshua Greene - April 01, 2014

93 Points YEAR'S BEST WHITE BURGUNDY "This has evolved into casual elegance, a skinny wine with some fat on it, like the luscious feel of a breath of moist ocean air. It's complex and layered with scents of seashells, fresh thyme, fennel and almonds, mellowed into savory brightness. The flavors last, effortlessly balanced, a great vintage ready to enjoy."

International Wine Cellar - Joel B. Payne - October 01, 2014

89 Points "Light yellow. Flinty aromas of apple, orange blossom and wet stone. Tactile and a touch rough-grained, with chalky minerality giving definition to the classically dry sauvignon blanc flavors of lemon zest, herbs and quinine. Tightens up on the back of the palate, finishing with good lift to its stony flavors."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - November 30, 2011

91 Points "Ripe and driven, with a lush edge to the lemon curd and lemon pound cake notes, backed by verbena, grapefruit zest and peach. The long finish has nice cut through the middle."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - June 15, 2009

90 Points "A lengthy, pure, unadorned style, with a beam of citrus peel and floral notes that is backed by hints of straw, wet stone and mineral. The finish is long and very stylish."

Wall Street Journal - Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher - May 02, 2008

Recommended "Serious intensity and minerality. Laser-focused, ripe lime-grapefruit tastes. Pure tastes. Long finish. Limestone, seashells and slate. Rich fruit flavors and a long finish" A Sancerre to look for.

San Francisco Chronicle - Olivia Wu - August 31, 2007

2.5 stars (Good-Exce "Tastes like a village Burgundy with floral notes and heady perfume suggesting rose petals veiled over strawberries. Yet there are also earthy, wet clay hints, and tannins that grip all the way to the end. Made entirely from Pinot Noir, it's a winner, especially if you like a light bodied Burgundy with great maturity and balance."

Ladoucette Baron de L Pouilly - Fumé

Ladoucette Baron de L Pouilly - Fumé 2014

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - December 01, 2016

91 Points "A whiff of smoke pervades this version, with the core of gooseberry and lemon curd notes lingering on the tarragon-infused finish."

International Wine Cellar - Joel B. Payne - October 01, 2014

91 Points "Greenish yellow. Complex bouquet of apricot, yellow bell pepper and hay. Rich, generous and powerful, with a sweet core of fruit and harmonious acidity over a distinctly tight but fleshy structure. Peach, grapefruit and abundant wet stone linger long on the spicy aftertaste. This dry sauvignon blanc shows how well the variety can age."

Ladoucette Baron de L Pouilly - Fumé 2008 Archived REVIEWS

The Wine Advocate - David Schildknecht - June 2012

91 Points "Leesy richness is signaled already the nose, but so is the tingling, pleasantly stinging, vibratory intensity of nettle, sage, huckleberry, fresh grapefruit, lime zest, citrus pip, and pineapple close to its core. This leaves one’s palate aquiver yet feeling scoured: a handsomely austere, bracing Sauvignon that demonstrates how to make a big statement at only 12.5% alcohol. Past renditions as well as the concentration and energy evinced at this stage point toward a wine that will be well worth following for at least another dozen years."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - June 15, 2011

90 Points "Still on the young side, with pure, chiseled straw, gooseberry and flint flavors that are backed by a long, stylish finish, where a fleur de sel note lingers. Should age gracefully."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - June 15, 2009

91 Points "Plump up front, with nice depth to the lemon verbena, straw, chamomile flower and mineral notes. The long, graceful finish really struts its stuff after some airing in the glass."

Ladoucette Baron de L Pouilly - Fumé 2002 Archived REVIEWS

International Wine Cellar - Joel B. Payne - October 01, 2014

91 Points "A hint of gold in the yellow shows a first sign of age. Fleshy citrus aromas pick up notes of pear skin and honey with aeration. Velvety in texture, but with good lift to the sweet citrus and bitter fruit pit flavors. Still quite youthful, with a subtle minerality rising on the long, slightly sweet finish. From a classical vintage, this wine for the collection series was only bottled in 2013."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - May 31, 2007

92 Points "Subtle but very complex, with notes of lanolin, lemon curd, white asparagus, thyme and mineral. The long, stony finish is creamy in texture, but also racy and fresh. Really lingers nicely. Drink now."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - May 31, 2007

92 points "Subtle but very complex, with notes of lanolin, lemon curd, white asparagus, thyme and mineral. The long, stony finish is creamy in texture, but also racy and fresh. Really lingers nicely."

International Wine Cellar - Josh Raynolds - March 2007

92 Points "Medium straw. Deep, forceful aromas of blood orange, lime and floral honey, with complicating sage, tarragon and quinine notes. Very concentrated and chewy, with tangy citrus and quince flavors joined by licorice and cracked pepper on the back. Finishes with superb definition and persistence. Give this a few years in the cellar and serve it as you would a grand cru Chablis."

Ladoucette Baron de L Pouilly - Fumé 2000 Archived REVIEWS

International Wine Cellar - Josh Raynolds - March 2007

90 Points "Light yellow. Intense citrus, pear, mineral and floral honey aromas, with a hint of baking spices. Full and ripe but also focused, with pure citrus and orchard fruit flavors brightened by tangy mineral notes and deepened by a suggestion of sweet butter. The zesty finish boasts impressive depth and length. I've had 20-year-old versions of this wine that were remarkably fresh and complex."

International Wine Cellar - Steve Tanzer - April 2004

90 Points "Intriguing scents of ginger, flowers, pear, snap peas and white tobacco. Then leanish and uncompromising, with strong mineral flavors of grapefruit, ginger and crushed stone. Long, slightly earthy finish."

Wine Spectator - J.M. - July 31, 2003

92 Points "Lovely elegance here, with floral, stone, chalk and white peach flavors augmented by touches of smoke and nuts. Flavors build on the finish, where the texture gains depth and creaminess. Nice definition. Impressive. Could still be cellared some, too. Drink now through 2006."

Ladoucette Comte Lafond Grand Cuvée Blanc

Ladoucette Comte Lafond Grand Cuvée Blanc 2014

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - September 30, 2017

91 Points “Shows a mature edge, with a paraffin accent lining the dried marjoram, savory and thyme notes and lemon curd and gooseberry gelee flavors. Shows good juicy energy on the finish. Ready to go, but you could push this in the cellar in you want a broader feel.”

Ladoucette Comte Lafond Grand Cuvée Blanc 2012 Archived REVIEWS

International Wine Cellar - Joel B. Payne - October 01, 2014

91 Points "Pale yellow. Vibrant aromas of lime zest, wet stone and white pepper. The first impression on the palate is that of nervous energy, with fine precision to the citrus and dusty mineral flavors. Taut in a classic Sancerre style, but with an inner balance that provides this sauvignon blanc with a certain distinction. Lively citrus flavors linger on the nicely focused, slightly edgy finish. "

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - October 15, 2010

Ladoucette Comte Lafond Sancerre Blanc 2014

Wine Spectator - Alison Napjus - January 31, 2016

Wine & Spirits - Joshua Greene - April 01, 2015

91 Points YEAR'S BEST "This vibrant young Sancerre delivers a straight line of flavor, lime-like in its mouthwatering acidity, with the green chlorophyll glow of fresh cut grass. Its richness and intensity of flavor are held within that firm line. Great for roast fish."

Ladoucette Comte Lafond Sancerre Blanc 2011 Archived REVIEWS

Bloomberg - John Mariani - July 08, 2012

Recommended "Long a champion of the modern style in the Loire, the estate’s Sancerres are known for their well-knit spices and acids, along with flowery bouquet and long finish at the back of the palate. It is superb with shellfish."

The Wine Advocate - David Schildknecht - June 2012

89 Points "A fascinating combination of diverse hedge flowers and herbs with maritime minerality and subtle suggestions of meat stock inform the nose of Ladoucette’s 2010 Sancerre Comte Lafond, pointing with its Chablis-like aspects to the dominance of Kimmeridgian soils among the sites in four villages that inform this cuvee. Strong citrus rind and resinous herbal notes emerge on a handsomely lean but faintly oily palate."

Wine & Spirits - Joshua Greene - April 01, 2014

92 Points YEAR'S BEST LOIRE WINES "Scents of flint and sorrel hide the fruit of this wine at first, but they don't hide its bold spice and nutty richness. Once the fruit emerges with air, there's an openness to the flavors, packed with an intensity that warrants aging the wine for several years. Its bass notes and earthy flavors will match goat cheese with spring vegetables, or chicken paillard with mushrooms."

The Wine Advocate - David Schildknecht - June 2012

89 Points "Juicy grapefruit takes on an aura of its candied rind; pineapple near the core bites, but is mingled with a hint of caramel; and there is a subtle sense of creaminess against which the stony mineral cast and fruit skin tartness stand out in stark relief. ... This is impressive in its big-boned (albeit alcoholically moderate) manner."

Wine Review Online - Michael Franz - February 23, 2010

91 Points "This famous estate and its amazing Château de Nozet have become such fixtures in the world of wine that one could almost forget that it is also the source of some of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc. If you’d hesitate to buy a Pouilly-Fumé from 2006 (which is indeed the current release), this is a bottle to buy especially for that reason, since the wine can teach a valuable lesson about the capacity of top Loire Sauvignons to acquire additional complexities with age while still remaining taut and fresh. In this instance the core of lemon/lime fruit is enhanced by lots of little nuances and a very prominent minerality in the finish. Highly detailed, this is an enduringly interesting drink that seems to unfold a new element with every successive sip."

Wine & Spirits - Peter Liem - April 2008

90 Points One of the Year's Best Sauvignon Blancs (June 2008 issue) "Vibrant and lively, this show fragrant aromas of peach, pear and guava packed into a sleekly muscular frame. It's rich in body yet never feels heavy, supported by crisp acidity that balances the weight and elongates that flavors on the finish."

Creative Loafing - Taylor Eason - January 02, 2008

4 Stars "This French Sauvignon Blanc is positively pretty. Rich and gentle acidity yet lively with tart lime, minerally slate and a delicious finish of earthy chamomile tea. Unique."

The Wine Advocate - David Schildknecht - August 2007

91 Points "The Ladoucette flagship 2005 Pouilly-Fume...presents the nose with gooseberry, cassis, peach, lime and positively sneeze-inducing pungency of lavender and catnip. As is always the case, at its best this wine achieves a superb combination of textural richness and ripe fruit with pungent herbal- mineral shadings, and refreshing citrus. There is real lift in its persistent finish of perfumed herbs, fruit pits, chalk dust, and citrus zest."

Wine Spectator - James Molesworth - May 30, 2007
