Best Buy. “Spicy schist notes greet you when you first smell this wine, the gentle warmth of sun on stone that captures this wine's fruit at a fine moment of ripeness. Designed as an estate blend from a warmer schist site near the river and a cooler, high-elevation granitic vineyard of Duas Quintas is impressive for its jasmine-scented purple fruit and lasting spice. Pour it with spicy braised pork.”

Best Buy. “The latest vintage of one of the original wine brands in the Douro, this bold wine offers great tannins and structure along with the ripe black fruits. Balanced and generous, it is developing quickly.”
Duas Quintas by Ramos Pinto embodies the precision, freshness and richness of the wines from this iconic Douro still wine producer. Duas Quintas Red is a wine from the region of Douro Superior, more specifically from Quinta de Ervamoira (150 metres altitude) and Quinta dos Bons Ares (600 metres altitude), and is a blend of traditional grape varieties that expresses the potential of this most extreme region. Reinvigorating Duas Quintas’ style and quality is winemaker Teresa Ameztoy; valedictorian of her DNO (National Oenological Diploma) class at Faculté d’Oenologie, Bordeaux; and cousin of President Jorge Rosas. Ameztoy and the winemaking team onsite at the estates ensure the meticulous crafting of this wine that reflects the unique terroirs of Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira.
The grapes are harvested by hand in 150 kilos boxes then crushed and de-stemmed for fermentation in lagares and in stainless steel vats, where maceration is prolonged for the time needed to obtain a wine with the desired body and structure. After the malolactic fermentation, 20% of the wine is aged in French oak casks, 30% in barrels and the remainder in stainless steel vats for 13 months. The wine was bottled in February 2015.
Duas Quintas red 2013 is an excellent aperitif. We also suggest pairing it with dishes such as stews, cheese raclette, chicken muamba (chicken curry) to which it provides freshness. This wine also pairs well with roast chicken and vegetarian lasagna. As a dessert, we recommend pairing it with semi-cured sheep cheese and cured goat cheese. Suggested drinking temperature is between 61ºF and 64ºF (16ºC and 18ºC). Store the bottle horizontally in a cool, dry place, away from light.
