Arnaud Weyrich Announced as Winemaker and V.P. of Production
Anderson Valley, Calif. — Roederer Estate introduces Arnaud Weyrich who will succeed Dr. Michel Salgues as Winemaker and V.P. of Production in July 2003. Weyrich has over five years of experience with the Louis Roederer winemaking team and trained at both Roederer Estate under the supervision of the current winemaker, Michel Salgues, and at Champagne Louis Roederer with Chairman Jean-Claude Rouzaud.
To ensure a smooth transition, Weyrich arrived in the Anderson Valley in 2000 to work closely with Michel Salgues and gradually take over the various responsibilities of his new role as Winemaker and V.P. of Production. Salgues states «Arnaud brings to the winery a keen sense of advance technology and winemaking but he is also deeply entrenched in the traditional Louis Roederer winemaking philosophy». Weyrich has a degree in Viticulture and Enology and a Masters in Enology from the renowned University of Montpellier in Southern France.
Roederer Estate President, Gregory Balogh expresses «Arnaud will be a great addition to the winery – he shares the team spirit so important to each of us at Roederer Estate and he brings a new perspective to the team».
Michel Salgues who has been at the winery for eighteen years will depart in July of this year, but will remain an advisor within the Louis Roederer group. «Michel will be greatly missed at Roederer Estate and we applaud him for his outstanding achievements» remarks Jean-Claude Rouzaud. In 1998, Salgues decided that he would like to spend more time in France and requested a five year transition before his resignation later this year. He intends to pursue personal endeavors while also returning to the academic world.
