“This is a versatile Chenin Blanc for a midweek meal. Lemon in color, this wine has a perfumed nose of Fuji apple, orange zest, white peach and blossom. On the palate, the wine has fresh fruit flavors and bright acidity that completes with a lemon-citrus finish.”

“A friendly, open, fruit-driven style, with apple and honey-coated pear flavors that show dried garrigue and ginger details. Medium-bodied, with a jolt of brine and lime at the close. Drink now through 2028.”

“Domaine Marc Brédif is best-known for its excellent examples of Vouvray (a 1921 Marc Brédif Vouvray remains one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted in my lifetime!), but they have made excellent Chinon for many years. The wine is made from vineyards principally planted on gravelly soils and it is fermented and raised in stainless steel tank. The 2020 is another excellent young wine, coming in at thirteen percent octane and delivering a complex nose of red and black cherries, tobacco leaf, a touch of tree bark, juniper berry, cigar smoke and gravelly soil. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a fine core of fruit, suave tannins, lovely balance and grip and a long, complex and very classy finish. This is made in a style that grants immediate access to the wine, but it has a good structural undercarriage and impeccable balance and will age quite gracefully. For my palate, I would be inclined to tuck it away in the cellar for three to five years and really let it blossom. It is a very good wine and a great value!”
