“Bramble, plum and black cherry on the nose. Medium-bodied with soft tannins. Juicy and fresh with a floral note. A bit salty too. Drink now.”

September 2021, Antonio Galloni

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Dach Vineyard is a wine of real substance. Expressive and resonant in feel, the 2018 fleshes out beautifully in the glass. Wild cherry, tobacco, licorice, lavender and gravel bring out darker shades of Pinot. In 2018, the Dach offers a compelling interplay of richness, energy and structure. It is one of the best wines I have tasted from Domaine Anderson yet.”

Domaine Anderson is nestled in the breathtaking, fog-cooled hillside and mountain terrain of Northern California’s Anderson Valley. The cooling marine layer that is characteristic of this region provides ideal conditions for the cultivation of chardonnay and pinot noir grapes. The wines are crafted with precision and care to express the uniqueness of the Anderson Valley terroir.

Our flagship vineyard, Dach (pronounced dash) is farmed using organic and biodynamic methods, surrounding the Domaine Anderson winery in the center of Anderson Valley. Its carefully drained soils consist of Boontling and Perrygulch loam mixed with gravelly clay and sand.

Dach Vineyard is certified Demeter biodynamic & CCOF organic.

Hand-harvested over the course of four nights from September 6 to 11. Five small fermentation batches were allowed to spontaneously ferment with indigenous yeast found in the vineyard.  A combination of punchdown and gentle pumpover was used during 12-day maceration before pressing in our small basket press. Indigenous malolactic fermentation in 60-gallon French oak barrel lasted through the spring. No new barrels were used and wine was racked, blended just before bottling in the winter of the following year.

Tasting Notes

Layered aromas of black cherry, lavender and fresh ocean spray reflect fresh and savory flavors of raspberry, rhubarb and earthy cedar. Beautifully pure in texture with elegant and fine tannins. The finish is clean, crisp and balanced, accented with a lip-smacking salinity.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with lemon-thyme roasted chicken, wild mushroom ravioli with a Parmesan cream sauce, herb-rubbed roasted pork, and a variety of cheeses such as cambozola and cheddar.
