A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from Stellenbosch that captivates with its balanced and tasty character. Aromas of ripe berries and oak spices introduce a firm palate. Hints of dates and a dash of freshly grated nutmeg complement earthy ripe dark fruit flavors. Excellent acidity and a silky texture lead the senses through a long finish.

The 2023 Othello is a tasty entry-level bottling from the front blocks on the property, those on either side of Hopper Creek. Juicy dark red fruit, cinnamon, new leather and cedar are pushed forward in this delicious, effortless Cabernet Sauvignon. Best of all, this should be a fabulous value, too.

Lithe and graceful, this red plays cherry and strawberry fruit and white pepper against balsamic notes of eucalyptus and menthol. Firms up on the finish, where dense tannins leave their grip. Best from 2028 through 2043.

The 2021 Rubicon has quite an extrovert bouquet, more so than the 2001; black plum, dark chocolate and light violet scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe tannins, more body and depth here, cohering nicely towards the slightly lactic finish that fans out nicely. Fine. Tasted at the Meerlust tasting at Berry Brothers & Rudd in London.

A pretty, soft, coral color, with hints of onion skin. An initially reticent nose, gradually ceding rosehips and other more delicate red fruits (strawberry, maybe), pepper, and spice in support. A robust, phenolic, youthful palate, rejoicing in a sunny disposition but aware of the need for restraint and recalling its lack of sugar; poised and somewhat statuesque on the finish. Giacometti has been sharing a glimpse of Botero, but ultimately, and with no lack of dignity, he holds court.
