“The 2017 Clos Saint-Martin is superb. Rich, racy and flamboyantly ripe, the 2017 is a real head-turner. Super-ripe red plum, blood orange, spice, mint and star anise all pulse through a juicy, Saint-Émilion built on textural lushness. I would prefer to cellar the 2017 to allow some of the baby fat to melt away, but the 2017 is an undeniably alluring and racy wine with a bright future. Today, it is a total pleasure bomb, but not at all overdone.”

“The 2016 Clos St. Martin is made up of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with bold blackberries, warm plums and red cherries notes plus hints of baking spices, cedar chest, chocolate mint, forest floor and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied and jam-packed with generous black and red fruits, it has a solid frame of grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and spicy.”

“Here there's some clear opulence on display: a silky texture to the fruit, with hints of smoky grilled almonds and a salty lick on the finish. The oak is evident but gives a lovely spiraling sense of enjoyment to this generous, well balanced wine, and it will please both old and new fans of St-Emilion. Classicists as well as hedonists can find something to enjoy. 30% aged in clay amphora.”

“Blended of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Clos St. Martin displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is scented of plum preserves, blackberry pie, wild blueberries and incense with touches of unsmoked cigars and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with vibrant, well-delineated black fruit layers with alluring red fruit accents and a firm frame of velvety tannins, finishing long and lively.”

“Sophie Fourcade's 2015 Clos Saint Martin has turned out beautifully. Dense, pliant and impeccably layered, it also offers a good bit of freshness to play off the sweet red stone fruit flavors. I especially like the brightness here, especially in 2015, where it is easy for wines to be out of balance. A closing flourish of sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit leaves a lasting impression. Tasted three times.”
