Junior Accountant

Maison Marques & Domaines, Inc. is seeking for a junior accountant to join our finance team, and more specifically the MMD accounting team (3 people). The position reports to MMD's Accounting Manager.

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits located in our Oakland office.


Job Duties

Daily Activities

  • Process expense reports bi-weekly, and keep track actual vs. budget
  • Check and process commission invoices for payment and accrual
  • Maintain schedule of payments to suppliers in USD and EUR
  • Initiate ACH and Wire payments to suppliers and apply payments in the accounting system
  • Release inventory supplier invoices
  • Prepare Misc. invoices to suppliers and customers
  • Handles booking of foreign currency cash transactions
  • Backup A/P process
  • Assist customer credit checking and A/R collection

Month-end Closing

  • Obtain general ledger coding and supporting documentation for company credit card statements, and post the entry in the accounting system
  • Prepare A/R & A/P reconciliation
  • Report and file taxes
  • rental receipts
  • sales & use tax in CA, FL & TX
  • Keep track POS receipts and expenses
  • Reconcile foreign exchange gain/loss accounts
  • Prepare/review bank reconciliation

Quarter-end Closing

  • Keep track Fixed Assets costs and maintain reports
  • Make journal entries of billbacks accruals and maintain accruals master files
  • Report excise tax
  • Assist in quarterly reporting

Year-end Closing

  • Assist as needed during closing and reporting at year-end
  • Assist annual budget preparation


  • In general, assist the Accounting Manager with all aspects of accounting as required, and also support the accounting team for special projects


What You Bring

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience with progressing responsibilities, or 2 years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a CPA candidate is preferred
  • Highly organized and reliable, with great attention to detail
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Excel (i.e. VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS etc.)
  • Experience with Dynamics SL and Concur administration preferred
  • Must live in the Bay Area. The position is based in Oakland and reports to the office Monday-Friday
