Fermented with 20% stems, the 2022 Saint Joseph Francois De Tournon brings another level of everything. Red and black fruits, graphite, smoke, and crushed stone all define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has a layered, ripe, seamless mouthfeel, and building yet fine tannins. Drink 2025-2035.

Coming from the birthplace of Chardonnay is this very affordable daily wine from Burgundy. This bottle shows how even the most simple examples from this region can be delicious. It has a subtle nose and nice, round palate. Typical of this style, it’s mineral-driven on the nose with soft citrus and orchard fruit.

The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Le Clos is a solid step up and has a perfumed, ripe, floral, singular style. Red and black berries, black licorice, flowers, leather, and some meaty nuances all define the aromatics, and it's another sun-kissed yet elegant, balanced effort. It has plenty of tannins and should age for a solid 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2019 Marqués de Murrieta Capellanía is 100% Viura aged for 23 months in barrel and 13 months in tank. Aromas of stewed apple, pear, citrus blossom and herbs dominate, with oak sitting gently in the background. Creamy and textured with chalky grip and moderate volume, this is expressive now and poised to gain further complexity with time in bottle. Viura’s evolution rewards patience.

The 2020 Dalmau Pago de Canajas blends Tempranillo and Graciano with 12% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rioja Alta. This aged for 22 months. Aromatically layered, with camphor, menthol, balsamic herbs, cedar, cassis and deep black fruit, it's plush in feel with an energetic core and bold structure. The concentrated fruit and oak styling lean toward the New World, but the freshness reins in the overall profile. The 2020 is complex and modern.
