Overview
Of all the centuries-old growths which dominate the majestic river Loire, La Poussie is the one whose reputation remains unblemished. Its origins can be traced back to the Capetians, as witnessed by a document dating from around 1040.
The exceptional vineyard site, shaped in a semi-circle and reminiscent of a natural amphitheater, make it one of the most unique in the world, with heavy alluvial soil scattered with flint. An excellent site with an extremely sunny position and optimum ripeningconditions.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted for color and perfection. A subtle blend of musts are drawn off after the red grapes have gone through direct pressing and several hours of maceration. The wine undergoes thermo-regulation at 154°F and is bottled after a short period in the vats.
Tasting Notes
Salmon-colored with brilliant tints. Nice intense aromas of raspberry, blackberries, black cherry, wood and strawberries. Lively attack with nice body, reinforcing freshness. The good maturity of the pinot noir gives a succulent and gorgeous fruity character. Juice extraction by direct pressing gives aromas of red berries. The "bleed" brings volume and density to the finish.
