This range is a blend of two estates – Ervamoira, on schist and at a lower altitude, and then Bons Ares, which is on granite and at 600m. This wine is so fruity, opening with blueberries and Maraschino cherries, rich and ripe, but also with a little stemmy herbal tone underneath. It is just bursting with blue fruit. Plump, ripe and rounded, all front-loaded fruit, but it finishes super dry, with a really long cool minty finish. The tannins are present but generally very gentle. Really approachable modern wine that will find many fans. Bravo!

Such beautiful harmony of vivid fruit and aged complexity. Expect black tea, persimmons, chocolate, dates, saffron and just a hint of caramel. Medium- to full-bodied and well-knit, this has a lush, lingering finish with a touch of bittersweet oranges at the end. Pure and intense. So delicious now.

Bramble and licorice snap notes lend good energy as a mix of boysenberry and blackberry puree and warmed fruitcake emerges steadily. A singed apple wood detail frames the finish, while underlying succulence lends freshness to help everything extend nicely. Best from 2038 through 2050.

One of the original brands that heralded the renaissance of Douro wines in the 1990s, Duas Quintas comes from Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta das Bons Ares, both owned by Ramos Pinto. This latest release is balanced and fruity, ripe with red berry fruits and generous tannins. A smoky aroma indicates the wood aging. Drink from 2026.

The wine has a floral hint amidst berry and raisin aromas. Succulent black fruits, easy tannins and hints of dried fruits show the beginnings of structure for long aging. Drink from 2030.
