The 2022 Rosé BY.Ott is such a complete wine. It's just so elegantly put together. Orange oil, strawberry fruit, strawberry top (yes, the leafy part), ruby red grapefruit and fresh mint form an intoxicating bouquet as the 2022 puts on weight in the glass, especially in the mid-palate. Fresh, lively, juicy, salivating—all of these apply. A satisfying mineral bitterness tugs at the tongue as the wine exits the mouth, lingering with the subtlest hint of fruit sweetness. The finish is long and measured. Very well done.

Much zippier than the 2022, the 2023 Rosé BY.Ott shimmers with energy. At its core, this wine is the essence of strawberries. It's admirable in its purity of fruit, but it's also just slightly less harmonious than the previous vintage, with a bit of heat poking through. I keep waiting for more layers to develop, but aside from a little hit of crunchy sea salt minerality toward the close, you just hop on and ride the strawberry train. Tart orange juice freshness pings in right at the end, compelling me to raise my score slightly. Also, the finish is long...ok, maybe this is pretty good!

“This wine is pale-pink salmon-hued with aromas of yeasty brioche, fresh raspberry, youthful strawberry, white tea and spiced orange zest on the nose. The midpalate is firm mousse, dried raspberry, orange blossom, gliding into supple orange cream and white grapefruit with a dry finish. Pair with life.”

“This wine is salmon-hued with aromas of Rainier cherry, raspberry, strawberry, orange cream and pink grapefruit zest on the nose. The bubbles are fine and the midpalate has semifirm creamy mousse with flavors of white strawberry, white peach, Golden Delicious apple, dried fine herbs, toasty butter brioche on the finish.”

Offers showy raspberry and blood orange coulis flavors, laced with a racy savory note and carried by lively acidity. Reveals cedar and sanguine hints on the finish, which also has a touch of grain (in line with the vintage), but this has cut and verve. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2035.
