July 2022 94 Points Wine Enthusiast

“This is the first in a new series of nonvintage Champagnes that replaces the producer’s well-known Brut Premier. Based around the 2017 vintage and blended with wines from six other years, the wine is dry while also having a rich, toasty character alongside mineral, white fruit and spice flavors. Drink now.”

“Such a seductively perfumed nose of lavender, cloves, musk, raspberries, dried cherries, pine cones and wild herbs. Some caramel and toffee, too. Supple, silky and polished. Medium body with sleek, fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Beautiful sweet-spice notes from 12 months in new barrels. Pinot noir from Mareuil-sur-Ay. 1,222 bottles made. Even better from 2024.”

“So expressive on the nose, with cedar, dried lemon, praline, flint, chalk, grapefruit, white apricot and peach stone. So intense. Sharp, but creamy, with beautiful density and a compact mid-palate, yet elegant and refined. Medium body. Crazy length. Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. 1,665 bottles made. Try from 2023.”

“Round and creamy, yet bright and tangy, with delicious pie crust, walnuts, lemons, sourdough, white peaches and apricot stones. More gourmand, with a creamy mousse. Lingering praline and pastry notes. Pinot noir and chardonnay. Drink or hold.”

“Plenty of biscuit, pie crust, lemon pie, praline and hazelnut, as well as hints of toffee, cream and salted butter. Vibrant and sharp, but with lovely butter and brioche character and tight bubbles. So delicious. Wonderful balance of freshness and creaminess. Chardonnay from Avize. Drink or hold.”
