The 2020 Camille Hommage Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Coteaux Champenois is nuanced and polished. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and white pepper are all finely delineated. The Chardonnay is quite a bit more reticent than the Pinot at this stage. Perhaps that reflects a move towards more large format oak. My impression is that the Roederer team is still figuring out this wine. Even so, the 2020 is pretty tasty.

The 2020 Camille Hommage Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Coteaux Champenois is stellar. Striking aromatics and a touch of whole cluster savoriness meld into a core of blue/purplish fruit. In 2020, what stands out most is the purity of the flavors. All the elements are so well balanced, especially the stems (20%) and the oak that was overpowering in some of the very first vintages. This supremely polished Coteaux is an absolute delight.

“The 2016 Brut Blanc de Blancs Vintage is laced with hints of tropical fruit, lime, mint, passionfruit and crushed rocks. Intensely aromatic and light on its feet, the 2016 impresses with its gracious, understated personality. Sourced from plots in the mid-slope Grand Cru vineyard of La Côte in Avize, readers will find a Blanc de Blancs endowed with tons of energy and nuance. Dosage is 8 grams per liter.”

“A bright, chalky Champagne, finely balanced and appealing, with a range of nectarine and strawberry fruit flavors, plus notes of almond biscotti, pink grapefruit pith and elderflower. Packs a vivacious mousse that dances a foxtrot on the palate, carrying the flavors on the racy, lingering finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2030.”

“Firm and focused, this finely knit version offers a satiny texture and hints of smoke and oyster shell, which underscore flavors of pureed raspberry, peach skin and blood orange granita, with a rich touch of toasted brioche. Long, lightly spiced finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2030.”
