“Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch offers aromas of cranberries, rhubarb and blackberries with notes of earth, tar and woodsmoke. The medium-bodied palate has pretty, earth-laced fruits with a grainy frame and uncomplicated finish. This feels youthfully mute and may open up with some more time in bottle. ”

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Olivet Lane is all restraint. Blood orange, red berry fruit, mint, rose petal and star anise all give the Olivet Lane a very pretty aromatic top register. Medium in body and understated, the Olivet Lane is finely sculpted, vivid and exceptionally polished. It is also less expressive today than most of the wines in the lineup. I would prefer to give it a bit of aeration.”

“From a Middle Reach site along Westside Road, this robust, earthy wine is strong in firm tannin and overall structure. Earthy and bright in underlying acidity, it dazzles in dark, rich flavors of strawberry, blueberry and dried herb, a whiff of white pepper lurking. A finishing touch of dark chocolate leaves one wanting more.”

“Wild in pomegranate, strawberry and brambly blackberry, this longstanding vineyard-designate is deep and rich, with a density of earthiness. Thick tannins support the fruit and building elements of dried herb and lavender, allowing room for the acidity to balance its overall luxury.”

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch is a racy wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, cola, spice and blood orange all open up nicely in the glass. There is plenty of Russian River exuberance. The finish is a bit tight, but otherwise, this is very nicely done.”
